Hello good people!
Can you feel it in the air? It’s Halloween weekend! I don’t know about other cities, but Chicago really does Halloween.
There will probably be a little celebrating tonight, but definitely tomorrow (Saturday) starting from noon on the streets are gonna be packed with drunken adults wearing crazy costumes. And once the sun goes down…it should be a damn good time.

Well today is Friday, and that means its time for Mailbag Friday! I almost forgot again this week…what can I say. This is only the third time we’ve done this, maybe by next week I’ll have it burned into my memory. You’ll notice I changed the name from Friday Mailbag to Mailbag Friday…I like to keep you on your toes. Uh, yeah.
Question 1
From Linda P. “You wrote an article saying that using Google Analytics is really bad and how people shouldn’t use them…but I see you using them on MarketingFool.com – what gives?”
You caught me! I wrote an artilce about how one of my oldest sites got deindexed from Google and how you should never use Google Products… but I was speaking from an Adsense point of view.
I still believe that you SHOULDN’T use Google products such as Google Analytics or Google Webmaster Tools on any of your Adsense sites. Ever.
But this blog is different.
For one thing, I don’t put Adsense ads on this site, and I don’t rely on Google to send traffic to the site. Most of the people who read this blog everyday heard about it through word of mouth (hint hint – Yeah I’m looking at you…tell you friends about me!). And that’s the way I like it.
So I don’t care what Google does to this site. And so I use Google analytics here, mostly because it’s dead easy and free. I also use Feedburner to manage the site’s RSS feed, again for the same reasons.
But I can’t emphasize this enough…I would never use them on one of my Adsense sites. Ever. And neither should you!
Question 2
From Steve B. “You talk about Adsense and Amazon all the time, do you ever do sites focused on just one affiliate product like from Clickbank?”.
That’s a great question. No I don’t build sites like that…but not for any reason other that the fact that I just haven’t had the time to do it. In the future I’m planning on building some sites that do just that…either focusing on selling one affiliate product or a cpa offer of some sort.
Of course, I have a plan to put my own specific spin on that idea…and if it works, you guys will be the first to hear about it.
Realistically though, it probably won’t be till the beginning of next year before I get around to doing something like that though. But that’s really only a couple of months from now, so…
It’s a valid strategy that I think probably has some merit. I see sites being sold all the time on Flippa that do just that, and some of them have impressive income numbers. So we’ll see.
